Bows bows bows

We have been inspired by bows lately. They're feminine, fun and thanks to Lady Gaga they can even be edgy! We love the idea of pulling a few pieces of hair back and tying them in a little bow on the back of your head (top picture). This weekend we want to try that big "hair-bow" (shown at the bottom), it would be fun for a party! Have a good weekend!

Royal Wedding: Kate

Kate debuted a second dress for a more intimate, laid-back reception at Buckingham Palace. Again she chose to keep things chic and simple. We LOVE that she kept her hair a little more natural this time around, keeping it down and slightly curled. She looks lovely! A great idea for brides who want to be more true to their every-day looks or want to keep their hair a little more natural looking. Great for Summer brides. Royal Wedding: HATS!

The best part of the Royal Wedding for us at Salon K was of course the hair which goes hand in hand with all the amazing HATS! We would love to pick up this english tradition of wearing hats to weddings, special occasions, etc. they can be such a fun accessory! We noticed most of the wedding guests kept their hair simple to let their hats take center stage. (Can we all agree Princess Beatrices' pink bow hat was amazing!)

We love this pink flower hat/headband Rowan Atkinson's (wife?) is wearing! So cute coordinating with the shoes!

Royal Wedding: Kate

We are still swooning over the Royal Wedding. How gorgeous did Kate look?! She looked perfect in every way, keeping things chic and simple. We know brides will be flocking for her wedding 'do this Spring and Summer (and many more to come). The bride's hair was styled by Richard Ward Salon; "Catherine’s bridal look is called the ‘Demi Chignon’ – an up-do style which combines a classic bridal look with a regal, couture finish. The focus of the style was Catherine’s unique and individual halo style tiara, set just back from the hairline, which determined the finished look." We offer complimentary consultations for bridal updo's, call today! (click here for salon updo prices).

hair how-to: side chignon

You may have seen this hair how-to floating around the blog-world but I couldn't help but share! This is a simple, elegant side chignon. Very classic and super chic.
1.} Start by spraying hair with Tonic Lotion followed by Thickening Hairspray. Use a round brush to blow dry hair smooth. You could also do this style on second-day (or dare I say) third-day hair.
2.} Once completely dry use a large-barrel (around 1"to 1 1/2") to create waves from ears down.
3.} Tease the hair gently at the crown to create volume and height. Spray with Classic Hairspray.
4.} Gather hair into a low ponytail. Twist it along the nape of your neck, pinning as you go.
5.} Once you've twisted to your ear, shape the remaining hair into curls. Pin them back over the twist.
6.} Finish with Classic Hairspray. Voila!

HAIR HOW TO: Fall Trends

Feeling bored with your regular old hair do? Here are some Fall Hair Trends that you definitely need to add to your regimen! From ponies to pomps, braids to buns no hairstyle was spared an overhaul for fall. The New Pony, Modern Big Hair and The Updated Updo are trends not only worth noting, but also worth wearing.

From sleek, straight and super low, to textured, high and tightly wrapped anything goes with The New Pony. Use Bb. Prep, Styling Lotion, Defrizz and Does It All to create these looks.

Slick hair back and secure with a hairband, rat hair in the back and spray with hairspray.

Modern Big Hair steals the show. Textured and teased or soft and flowing. No matter the look, when Modern Big Hair was created, Thickening Hairspray, Bb.Gel, Thickening Serum, Bb.Shine and Surf Spray were always part of the action.

The Updated Updo was caught up in the catwalk action. These classic coifs with experimental execution incorporate buns, twists and braids in looks that are often smooth and tight, and other times loose and messy. Use Spray de Mode, Bb.Gel and Hair Powder to make it all happen.
