Barry M White Foundation

You know those products, that no matter how much you google you'll never find enough information about it? Maybe the odd blog post that just includes stock images (nowt wrong with them) but no swatches either? Barry M White Foundation is one of those products

So here's my review!

I'm not pale enough to wear it alone (besides I really don't think it would be very flattering to do so) so I mix it with Revlon ColorStay in Sand Beige, which is the second lightest colour. I bought it after one of those ha stuff you foundation I'm not gonna buy the lightest colour for once and I'm gonna make it work! Needless to say, I didn't make it work.

This is the process I go through to mix the two. You'd be forgiven for thinking the Barry M was a moisturiser its so creamy. And it is 'enriched with moisturisers' after all...

Click the picture to get a nice clear close up view (if that's your kinda thing)

It's such a basic product but you do get loads in the pot, and it really does work. Here it is on my face in all it's glory

My face matches my neck!

If you've got any questions just ask below :) I think it cost umm £6.19 but I know it'll last ages

On a side note, I wouldn't really recommend the other Barry M shades, I don't think the foundation would be hmm, comfortable enough to wear alone all over the face. Maybe a bit cakey and heavy.

Let me know what you think!

Feel Lucky Like A Four Leaf Clover

Hey everyoneee

Haven't blogged since forever so just wanted to say hello and that I hope you're all well.
My blog had its first birthday a couple of weeks ago and I totally didn't realise... eek

Have a Sunday FOTD...

Face
Revlon Colorstay in Sand Beige
(which is too too dark so mixed with Barry M White Foundation)
Bourjois Brush Concealer
the new Maybelline Dream Touch Blush in Berry
Eyes
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sidecar
Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama

Lips
Posie Tint by Benefit

Eyebrows
Laura Mercier Brow Definer in Soft mixed with MUA Dark Brown Eyeshadow

Writing that list made me realise how much I love all these products I've used, definitely been my favourites for the past few months

And yes, I got Posie Tint from Glamour, I like it but I don't love it. It feels reeally cheap and I actually didn't realise how similar it is to the 2True version I reviewed here. They're practically identical. (sorry to all the Benefit lovers out there)

Let me know what you're loving at the moment, and also I want more blogs to read, so leave me yours or ones you love

Valentines featuring Revlon Liquid Lipstick

Hello everyone!

Well considering I'm very single I didn't have a Valentines this year, but me and my friends went out for Pizza, so I decided to do a red lip, something I hardly ever ever do

Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in Top Tomato - £8.99

I have a love/hate relationship with this 'lipstick'. It lasts for ages, which means it can be terrible to get off at night, and if you apply it too thickly it starts to form balls of red lipcolour. However the pigmentation is incredible and I love the colour
I find the best way to apply it is to dab it on, wipe the excess off the applicator and then rub it in using that. And try not to reapply because that just gets messy!

What did you do for Valentines day?

Embracing The Pale

This is a much requested post that I've been meaning to do for ages!

As I'm sure you all know I am quite pale, half the foundations I own are called Ivory! However I do have freckles and fortunately (even though I hate them!) they do warm up my face a bit. Yet in these winter months I always feel as if my skin is grey and that I have really uneven pigmentation on my face. Which is why I am a foundation addict.

I don't use foundation to cover up my skin, however I do like a heavier coverage. In recent months however, there has been a definite increase in brands offering sheer yet 'flawless' foundations, and I'm rather partial to those too!

For the time being though, I'm going to be discussing the following foundations, and most of them are in the palest shades available. I would love to do a post on foundations for darker skintones, but I don't know much about that do I!

At the end of the post I'll be showing rubbed in swatches and other alternatives which I love

Revlon ColorStay in Sand Beige
I love this foundation, despite buying a shade too dark. It lasts ages and is quite high coverage. I mix this with Healthy Mix
Revlon Beyond Natural in Light and Light/Medium
This foundation is a sheerer one. As you can see the pale is really pale and the medium is quite, orange. I think it's because these two are really old, but the white turning to your ideal shade is a bit of a gimmick. Wouldn't really recommend.

Rimmel Stay Matte in 100 Ivory
I do like this foundation as it does keep you matte without the need for powder but the shade is so OFF. It is nowhere near ivory, quite orange and I'm disappointed in Rimmel for this :( Medium to high coverage.

Bourjois Healthy Mix in Vanille Clair 51
Possibly my favourite foundation ever. I've repurchased this many times (it's currently £6.99 in Boots) and I even bought the matching concealer which if I'm honest, I prefer to Touche Eclat. Medium coverage but it's buildable and doesn't cake. I LOVE THIS!

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid in Ivory
I really liked this foundation, but it is still a bit too orange. It's one of those ones that looks fine at first, but whilst out you realise you have a severe case of different colour face to neck syndrome. Medium buildable coverage and feels lovely to the touch.

Max Factor Lasting Performance in Pastelle
The packaging on this one makes me shake my head in disapproval. It's so . . cheap! Fairly pale and quite heavy coverage but not that flattering.

MAC Face and Body in N2
You all know I love this one! It sets like jelly. Haha that was a really bad metaphor but what I mean is it sets really nicely. Oily girls might need a bit of powder though but I love this.

Here are all the foundations rubbed in a bit

Other Foundations I Like

  • The palest Face and Body is great for mixing with foundations that you find too dark
  • Sleek offer the lightest and darkest foundations you'll find in Superdrug
Let me know what your favourites are!

Review: Revlon Colorstay

Hola Chicas!

Now do I really need to do a review on this foundation? It's well known for it's amazingness but I thought I'd add my 2 cents :)

Revlon Colorstay Foundation - £11.99

Now I have a love/hate relationship with heavier coverage foundations. I love the way they make my skin look clearer and more of an even colour. I hate the way they can be so drying and cakey and generally quite orange.

However I think this foundation is a bit different. This foundation promises flawless coverage. If I see the word flawless the product could be absolutely rubbish but I'd still buy it. I mean it says flawless!

Now this is flawless stuff, it makes you glow! Not in a woops I fell in the chip pan now I look shiny way, but in an I've swallowed a candle way.

Bad points? Um bit tricky to get out of the bottle as there is a lack of pump, but it pours quite well on to my Sigma F80 (review soon!) and the price is a littttle bit steep for drugstore. But I don't mind I love it :)

I also love that you can buy it according to your skin type. If you love a heavier coverage, you will LOVE this.

What foundation do you use?

Loves And Hates of June

Wow can you believe we're past halfway through the year? Me neither! Anyways, let me introduce you to my first ever Loves and Hates of the month!

Loves
The Body Shop Body Butter in Passionfruit. I bought this for £4.50 (including Membership Discount) because at the moment selected 200ml Body Butters are only £5 (they're normally £12.50!) This is so delicious and I just want to eat it up

Collection 2000's mineral foundation. This is my first ever mineral foundation and I think for the summer, I'm converted. This is such a lovely formulation and I am a freckled faced girl (and no, I don't like them) and whilst this doesn't cover them it does blur them so I'm left looking like I've been photoshopped, it really does make your face look flawless and glowing. Love it!

Cutting up men's tshirts :) Now I love a baggy tshirt, but they really are pretty much impossible to find. Primark has a few, but they always practically see-through and show your bra and they're always not quite right. Everywhere else just seems to have 'stretch' tshirts. I don't want fabric clinging to me in the middle of Summer! So I bought these two t-shirts from H&M for Men, and cut the neck off. The striped one was £2.99 and the nude behind was £3.99. I wear them off the shoulder and you can't see my bra through them, perfect!

Vintage-style handbags. Now I have quite a few of these and this is my newest addition, which went shopping with me today in Oxford Street :) I bought this off Laura's blog sale and it was a bargain and it has so many pockets!

Mixing lip colours. I've always loved doing this, I think I'm one of those people that can't stop when it comes to make up! This is Gosh Darling mixed with Revlon Colorburst in Coral. A lot of people say they find coral difficult to wear and whilst I think that this coral is very wearable, dabbing it over the top of Gosh Darling (or any other nude) gives you a subtle lip colour that isn't your average pink, yet it still remains not too out there!

Hates
Collection 2000 Hot Looks in Tutti Fruity. Now don't get me wrong I usually love these nail varnishes, but this one is just terrible. The colour is lovely yes, but it chips like nobody's business and it bubbles. Yes, bubbles. I currently have bumpy chipped nails, it really isn't a good look.
These two glosses I have to admit, I got free as at Boots and Superdrug at the moment you get one free when you spend over £4, but I still can't love them. The best thing about them is their names, but apart from that, they last a matter of seconds, they taste disgusting and no matter which one you use they all look the same colour.

Topshop Liner. You can read my full review of Topshop make up here, and if you've read it already you'll know I hate it. This liner is SO bad it's so difficult to use and the liner is terrible, really thin and yuck. The only thing I use this for is dipped in MAC Fluidline when I can't find my eyeliner brush but apart from that it's no use and I will never buy it again.

Benefit Bad Gal. You can read my Benefit Rant here and my speedy review of this here, I take it back, this liner is not fab and I would never ever buy this. It is a complete waste of money as it just doesn't do what it says it will and it doesn't last on your waterline, or anywhere else for that matter!

Hope you enjoyed reading this, sorry it was quite long, are you loving/hating any of these products?

Revlon Colorburst

Hey lovely ladies :)
Isn't it just extreeeemely hot? Anyways, we're always reminded that for summer, always always go for a coral lip! Now for me, the prospect of wearing ORANGE on my face is a bit of a no-go. Until I saw the new Revlon Colorburst. I mean I just had to look at Jessica Alba and I was sold (apart from when she dyed her hair that dodgy blonde, does that woman ever look the tiniest bit imperfect??) and the 2 pounds off at Boots (oh and Advantage card points. .) meant I had to grab one.

Firstly, what does Revlon have to say about their Colorburst Lipsticks?
  • Instant burst of rich, true color with a featherlight feel
  • Elasticolor™ technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like a second skin
Now personally, if I ever see a  ™ in a product description, they are not having my money. (Peptido-Complex, Softflex. . I'm looking at you L'oreal!) But I did really want to try a coral lipstick

This is their Coral (click it to see it enlarged)
And my lips wearing it. .
Sorry that's a really bad picture but you get the idea. It really is a very nice lipstick. It has no shine, no sparkles, it's a matte lipstick but thankfully it's not toodrying. It doesn't last very long and I'm not sure if I agree that it 'hugs' lips as obviously you can feel that you're wearing it. It does fade, but it doesn't look terrible like some lipsticks do, infact you could get away with not reapplying I think.Unfortunately Boots literally had 5 shades but there are apparently 20 available, and there are some very nice nude colours too. I think it looks best when dabbed on to give a 'burst' of colour, as it can make your lips look a bit clown like if applied in the normal way.

So all in all, yes I would recommend this lipstick, maybe not at full price, but it gives great colour pay-off and the packaging is lovely. The imprinted 'Revlon' into the bullet is very Chanel and I really do like this lipstick

What do you think? Have you ever bought a Revlon lippie before?
