SAG Awards: Best Dressed

It has taken me a few days to process the fashion from the SAG awards, but I am now ready to make my top 10 best dressed list. You'll notice that there a bunch of Glee ladies on the list, I swear I'm not biased! I've never actually watched the show, but whoever does their fashion is incredible. The girls always look great. 


1. Mila Kunis in Alexander McQueen. I really love how light and flow-y the dress is. However, I wish it was in a different color so that it didn't look so much like blood. If you just look at it as a dress, you really see how beautiful it is. This is the first of the ladies on the list who wore a belt in order to cinch their waist in. 

2. Claire Danes in Louis Vuitton. Claire loves to wear very modern, simplistic looking gowns so I loved that fact that she switched it up this time and wore a print. She also was a part of the belt trend. 

3. Dianna Agron in Chanel haute couture. I find Dianna to be a perfect example of elegance in young Hollywood. This Chanel dress was beautiful with a great above the ankle hemline. It was a bit of a twist from her usual dresses which are usually long gowns with trains. I also found the bow to be a very feminine soft touch. She also went simple with almost no jewelry. 

4. Julia Stiles in Monique Lhuillier. The ombre trend has been huge this year, from hair to fashion. We last saw a ombre dress at the Golden Globes on Olivia Wilde. This navy ombre dress is entirely different. It's light and soft and really plays up Julia's eyes. She also opted for some great sapphire chandelier earrings. 

 5. Amber Riley in Anne Barge. This dress was actually a wedding gown that the designer personally changed to black for Amber. I absolutely love it. It really compliments her figure, the one shoulder is drapery is fantastic. 

6. Lea Michele in Oscar De La Renta. Lea is seriously channeling the 70s in this skin tight, deep v neck silver dress. The metallic lamé belt only adds to the look. 

 7. Kyra Sedgwick in Thierry Mugler. I love black silhouettes. This black Mugler dress is perfect for Kyra because of her slender figure. Since she is in such good shape, she doesn't need a dress to cover her up, instead she needs a dress that flatters her and is age appropriate. This dress accomplishes both. 

 8. Annette Bening in Tony Ward couture gown. This is another woman who knows how to dress her age. The crystal encrusted neckline was absolutely dazzling. 

 9. Naya Rivera in Aurelio Costarella. This is probably a much more grown up look than she should have worn but that's my only problem with it. I really loved the shimmery metallic dresses at this year's SAG's. They were almost all form fitting and breathtakingly beautiful because of the ornate crystal details. 

 10. Kim Kardashian in Marchesa. I am a HUGE Marchesa fan. I think they could do (almost) no wrong. It is no surprise that the Fashion Queen-in-training would wear Marchesa to the SAG awards. If you watch the Kardashians style choices enough, you will notice they adore the color purple. And why not? If a color suits you well, you should keep wearing it! 

Best Dressed Men. For this I chose two, who I thought really exuded great fashion at the SAG's. 
1. Colin Firth. This is how a man should dress. He looked like a winner, it was not a surprise that he later won. He looks clean, well tailored, and confident. If you didn't know already, I have a love of bow ties and he can definitely pull off the bow tie.

2. Justin Timberlake. I chose Justin almost entirely on his tie. Most men wear monochrome ties to the SAG's. There's only so many black suits and ties you can see before you go crazy. I really liked the fact that his tie featured two white stripes set diagonally. It really caught your eye to what he was wearing, which was great.

Golden Globes: Best Dressed

The fashion at this year's Golden Globes emulated classic elegance and old Hollywood glamour. The big color trends were nudes, blacks, and emerald green. Sequins were a huge staple of almost all the dresses being worn this year. I have compiled a top ten of my favorite dresses as well as some honorable mentions. 

1. Olivia Wilde in Marchesa. I thought this dress was to die for. She looked like a princess as she walked down the red carpet and all the sequins glittered in the lights. The ombre color change makes this dress extremely dramatic. Perfect for the Golden Globes. Because her dress was so over the top, Olivia wore soft makeup and simple hair. (Take note Sandra Bullock: This is how to wear bangs to the GG). 

2. Dianna Agron in J. Mendel. Dianna Agron channels Grace Kelly in this nude flowing dress. She is the definition of poise and class on the red carpet.

3. Eva Longoria in Zac Posen. Hows this for getting back at your ex? Eva Longoria looked drop dead gorgeous in this black curve hugging dress. The cut out neckline accentuated her slim and fit figure. Her up-do helps keep the attention on the dress.

4. Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace. This goes to show that you can cover up Angelina's entire body and she will still look like a movie star. I love the fact that this dress is so conservative, the cinched waist and padded shoulders help keep a feminine form. Though she may look like she fits into the Emerald City of Oz, it doesn't change the fact that you could not take your eyes off her if you tried. Just like Olivia Wilde, Angelina does not need to do much with makeup or hair because the dress speaks for itself. 

5. Anne Hathaway in Giorgio Armani. Another rather conservative dress but it fits her body like a glove. The plunging back adds a dramatic twist to the look. I love the over-sized sequins, makes the dress much more retro looking ( a la 70s disco). Just like we saw with Angelina, the exaggerated shoulders creates a more high fashion form. 

 6. Scarlett Johansson in Elie Saab. No matter what anyone says, I love this look. Even the Bride of Frankenstein hair! Her hair only adds to the ethereal, fantasy like quality of the dress. The nude tone suits her fair skin really well. The flowing tulle on the sleeves and skirt help keep the dress looking dreamy and romantic.

7. Emma Stone in Calvin Klein. I was pleasantly surprised to see this peach tone on the red carpet. It was definitely a risky choice, as everyone else stuck to nudes and blacks. The very simplistic design suited her slim frame very well. This is a great example of how you don't have to wear something over the top, to stand out in a crowd. Great choice for her new blonde look! 

 8. Melissa Leo in Marc Bouwer. Perfect dress for her age, for a nominee, and ultimately a winner! Simple, chic design adorned with sequins (a favorite for these Golden Globes). The sequins made it shine in the lights as if it were multi-colored. 

 9. Megan Fox in Armani Privé. Now, I'm not the biggest fan of Megan's, but this dress was incredible. Her usual hardened, tough girl image was made softer with this pastel pink gown. I love the crystal and ribbon bodice detail. Her hair added to the softened look with romantic waves. Well done, Megan Fox, well done. 

10. Leighton Meester in Burberry Prorsum. I know a lot of people won't agree with me on this one, but I think this dress is fantastic. Leighton Meester has had some questionable fashion choices but I think no one else could've pulled this look off better than her. Again we see a very conservative look with the long sleeves but the slit up the front spices it up. 

 The following are some of my honorable mentions (in no particular order). 

 Gia Mantegna. I loved the off white periwinkle color and the separation with a black ribbon. Great choice for Miss Golden Globe.

 Piper Perabo. Simply chic in this Oscar de la Renta dress.

Milla Jovovich channeling old Hollywood glamour in this champagne colored wrap dress. 

 Sandra Bullock. I adore this dress! BUT why the hair sandra? This is a case when bad hair can ruin an entire outfit.

 Julie Bowen. I don't think I would typically like this dress, but Julie really pulls it off.

 Kaley Cuoco wearing a tiered romantically draped dress.  I love the lace detailing on the edge of each tier.

 Kyra Sedgwick wore a bold mustard colored dress. I loved the V neckline.

 Lea Michele wore a bubblegum pink dress. This dress was reminiscent of an 80s prom dress, but I've slowly fallen in love with it because it suits Lea so well. It's bright and vibrant color matches her bubbly personality. It also looks great with her dark hair and matching pink lips.

 Catherine Zeta Jones wore a glamorous overflowing emerald green gown. I loved the scrunched texture of the gown. It fit her perfectly.

 Carrie Underwood looked simply stunning.

 Claire Danes is one of the best representations of genuine class. She doesn't need to wear a detailed, elaborate dress to stand out. Her own elegance is what separates her from the rest of Hollywood.

Natalie Portman wearing Viktor and Rolf. At first I hated this dress. The more I've seen it though, I've grown to love it. It's just so sweet, especially for an expecting mother. (You have to hope that baby is a girl after Natalie wore this baby pink dress!) I really like the glittered rose in the center holding together the loosely ruffled satin fabric. 

 Tina Fey. Tina usually opts for black dresses which are a little crazy at times, but here she went for a more regal look. This dress has a great neckline and the navy velvet catches the light perfectly.

 Mila Kunis was part of the emerald green trend. The reason this dress works so well for her is her petite size. On a larger girl, the ruched fabric would have made them look even larger, especially around the hips. Because she is smaller, this one-shouldered dress looks fantastic.

Dianna Agron and Alex Pettyfer Photoshoot

A new photoshoot has just been released featuring Dianna Agron & Alex Pettyfer. The two will soon be promoting their new film, I Am Number Four. I highly suggest watching the trailer, they're going to try to promote the film as the next big teen blockbuster series a la Twilight or Harry Potter.

The actual shoot is very beautiful, sort of a Country Glamorous vibe. Dianna wearing a vintage hat and soft brown leather gloves. Alex wears a worn jean jacket with vintage shades tucked into his classic black tee. His simple fashion helps highlight her charming elegance.
