I found the X Desk!

I have seen this desk around the blog world quite a bit lately:

If you have been looking I found the same desk in Freedom Furniture for $599 (Au).

PS...Why had I never walked into Bay Leather Republic - What a great source of inspiration!

My Very First EBAY Venture.

So, I've been meaning to get going on an Ebay account for quite some time now.
I set it up back in May, but then procrastinated (typical me) over all that verification malarky you have to go through to get it working until tonight, when I found I could no longer bear staring at the bag of discarded clothes in the corner of my room.

All the stuff I'm selling is in perfect condition (most of it is new), and I'm selling everything at very reasonable prices, so it would be great if you guys could check it out!

Here's a link to my EBAY, and here's to hoping I actually make a few sales.

Below are some examples of the things I'll be selling.
If anyone has any tips or ideas for me, I'd be more than happy to take them into consideration!

Deena & Ozzy brogues from Urban Outfitters- buy now for €12 (or bidding starts at €6)

Primark chiffon shirt- bidding starting at €5

Silence & Noise top from Urban Outfitters- buy now for €6 (or bidding starts at €2)

There are also a few more things for sale, with more to come.

VINTAGE Footwear.

The main reason I'm writing this post is to gain insight into my readers' opinions on vintage footwear.

To be honest, I've always avoided second-hand footwear like the plague.
The thought of sharing a shoe with someone who could have sweat into it, not worn socks, or even worse, had some sort of foot infection, has always freaked me out.
And the fact that I don't particularly care for feet hasn't helped me very much either.

HOWEVER, this view was somewhat altered when I was in Urban Outfitters on Wednesday, and spied what were possibly the most perfect boots I have ever seen.
I've been on the hunt for some great black leather boots for quite some time now, and have finally come to accept that what I'm looking for will probably only be available in vintage.
Black, woven leather, lace-up boots with a little heel, they were exactly what I'd been searching for. And what's more, they fit me!

After much humming and hawing, I left the store without the boots.
Why?
Because I simply could not overcome my fear. When the boots were on my feet, I could feel the imprint of the previous owner and found myself almost shuddering at the thought.

Two days later, however, after trawling the internet and finding nothing worth comparing them to, I find myself wondering if I shouldn't just go back and buy the originals.
At €50, the price wasn't outrageous, and they did look great with my jeans..

TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY?; that is the question.

Here are some other vintage boots I encountered on my travels, as I don't have a picture of the pair;

£25, Asos Marketplace.

UPDATE: I finally went back to the shop and took a picture of the boots;
(this picture looks really fake but it was taken against a white floor!)

Pillow talk...

The self imposed shopping ban has been lifted (by myself) and I have ordered a few pillows that I of course don't need.

I went to my favorite Miss Gingham on Ebay and bought one of these

To sit with the birdie pair that I already have (from the same store).

And also sitting next to Mr & Mrs Chevron Ikat - Also an Ebay purchase but from Here

I am sure Mr Greek key would like to sit on the lounge also....

How to Shop Smart!

Now as many of you may know, fashion trends change every season, every year, and of often reappear after a certain period of time. I personally think that dressing classic is the best way to come off as sophisticated and chic, but there is always that little devil on the corner of my shoulder telling me to "get that 70's flare pant" or "buy that cute-ass cropped top". Now, giving into one's temptations for trendy clothes isn't always such a bad thing. The only time it really becomes a problem is if you buy a lot of these trendy items and end up wearing them maybe once or not at all and end up throwing it away by the next season. It's good to indulge in your shopping experience but its definitely way smarter to save money in the long-run and invest in high quality pieces that will last you for years to come.

When shopping for classic items:
  • Keep in mind that generally, if an item is a bit more pricier than it's dupe, its probably made better!
  • Invest in items that are versatile like a white/black blazer, a neutral tone leather handbag, pants that can go from day to night, and a little black dress.
  • Also, you might want to look for fabrics that are of higher quality such as cotton and silk whereas nylon and polyester fall into the "danger zone" of looking cheap and waring out quickly.
  • Visit discount stores like Tjmaxx,  Marshall's,  Filene's Basement (I think this one may only be in NY and Boston), and Loehmanns. You don't have to spend $300 on a blazer when many of these discount stores carry high-end brands of the same quality for cheap.
When shopping for trendy items:
  • Think about if you actually need it before you buy it and try to compose an outfit of some sort in your head (that's what I normally do).
  • Don't splurge so much on trendy items because they do in fact go out of style at some point!
  • Also, think about the future! Is this an item you would probably want in a year from now? If not, pass it up.
When shopping for basics:
  • Basics are super important and are items that should be easy to wear, non-fussy, and decently priced.
  • Be reasonable: Don't just buy a D&G plain white t-shirt because of it's name...there are some things that really have no difference in quality, but price.
  • Look for items made out of cotton and always read the care-labels! You don't want to have to dry-clean your basic tank-top every-time you wear it.
  • Find basics that suit your body type. With trendy pieces it is not so easy to do, because of their unique style, but basics like jeans, t-shirts, and sweaters should ALWAYS suit your body type.
  • Also, don't be afraid to tailor! A pencil skirt or pair of black slacks will probably be worn more times than you can even count, so in the long run the extra money you spend on tailoring your items pay off.
hope this helps!

Makeup HAUL.

Recently, I've accumulated quite a few new products, all of which I really like.
Part of the reason I've gotten so much makeup as of late, is because I've had two balls, both of which I got my makeup done for; the first in Chanel and the second in Mac.
Both counters require a purchase of at least €40 worth in return for doing your makeup, which really isn't a bad deal.
So, here's what I got.

Chanel Pro Lumiere foundation in "10 Limpide- Nude"

Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in "14 Mystic Eyes"

MAC lipsticks in;
"Vegas Volt" (coral)
&
"Cyber" (deep purple)

MAC "Mineralize Skinfinish Natural" pressed powder in Light/Medium

Topshop Nails in "War Paint" (fluoro-coral)

It's definitely going to be a while before I need to buy any new makeup!
What are the products that you can't live without?

Melbourne Myer & Samantha the celebrity stalker

My first affiliation with the blogging world was daily readings of the infamous celebrity reporter Perezhilton.com. Last week when shopping with my mother and sister in Melbourne I was awe struck running into Miss universe Jennifer Hawkins coming out of the bathroom, I then turned into a giddy schoolgirl and borderline celebrity stalker when I realised there was a press pack and some type of commotion to mark the official opening of the Melbourne Myer store.

From left to right the people in the below photo Samantha Swain, Jessica Hart, Andrej Pejic, Jennifer Hawkins....Okay I might just be browsing Myer - but I am in that photo, accidentally on purpose.....

And in case you needed more evidence - here are some I snapped with my handbag camera.

The new Melbourne Myer store is amazing, I think seven or eight levels of men's, woman's and home wares are all in one store. The new store is one million times better than the old one - you know what I mean if you ever went to the old store it was a shambles.

Found a black velvet chair

 An innovative scaffolding table solution

 Amazing floral displays

And another display - Inspired by my favourite anthropologie lamp perhaps?.

Round round baby, round round (part 2)

Probably not the best idea to try and cure a round mirror obsession by shopping for a few more "Round round babies". I think we need to petition that ZGallerie delivers to Australia - everything in the store needs to be in my house pronto!.

ZARA S/S '11, love it.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love Zara.
I've loved it since I was about fourteen, when one opened up quite near to where I lived in Cork.
When I was that age, I liked TRF, but in the past two years or so, I've moved on to the 'grown up' section, and I think it's amazing.
They're always right on trend, and it's definitely affordable.
Check out these shots from their most recent lookbook.  Oh, to have unlimited funds.

Shirt- €69.95
Trousers- €69.95
Court shoe- €79.95

Blazer- €59.95
T-shirt- €16.95
Shorts- €27.95

Blouse- €39.95
Shorts- €27.95

At the moment, I'm searching everywhere for a pair of bright flats.  I've got a dress, which I want to accessorize with colour blocked accessories.
I'm talking- evergreen, cobalt or coral hues.
Help!

Also- do you think that black or white works better in colour blocks?
