Now I know what you're thinking. "How to wear a coat? That's a stupid question" and yes it may seem like it, but many people find it difficult to style around an outfit with a coat. Most of the time the coat covers a good portion of the body, making one's new blouse or chic belt invisible to the public. If you're going to be out for a long time, I will sympathize with you as you may feel inclined to just rip off the jacket and show your chic new sweater to the world, but instead risking looking like a complete show-offy psychopath follow these tips!
Now for those of you who are out a lot and would like to know how to spruce up an outfit with a coat, it is key to go with accessories. For daytime, try a modern over the shoulder bag or a chic duffel with a silk scarf tied to it. If it's chilly outside, add a patterned scarf! For evening, I would totally throw on a chunky statement necklace that's close to the neck paired with a clutch. For your bottom half, it's always great to go skinny (like the photos above) but you don't always have to go for tights, leggings, skinny jeans, or straight-leg pants that hug your skin. If your coat is sintched at the waist and very formfitting, some wide-leg trousers or boot-cut jeans will still look extremely sophisticated and chic.
If you're wearing a dress or skirt underneath and it's cold out, go for some black tights with the shoes of your preference...(I would recommend flats, booties, neutral heels, or knee-high boots.) If it's not s cold out, go for some neutral colored flats for day and wild child heels for night.
Most importantly, have fun with it and don't be afraid to put bold accessories and colors together. A lot of the trends this summer like 70's, nautical, and minimalist, can help you completely style around one simple coat or outfit into a completely sophisticated and on-trend look!
hope this helps!
