Hermès; J'AIME MON CARRÉ.

As a violinist, I've always kept my eyes open for the perfect silk scarf to line my case, and keep my instrument warm.  As I've become more fashion conscious, I've wanted a signature silk scarf to tie around my hair, wear as a belt, or just to dangle prettily from my handbag.  Hermès to me has always been one of those classy, yet seemingly distant brands, one of eras gone by perhaps.  A brand you would expect to find in the archives of your grandmother's wardrobe, or hope that you will some day thrift, cementing itself as the ultimate find.  It seems to me, however, that Hermès are doing more than their bit to keep up with the times, and arouse interest in young fashionistas all around the globe.

When I discovered the newest Hermès project, J'aime Mon Carré, I got the loveliest of surprises.  Along with their Facebook page, Hermès are making a most beautiful attempt to carry their signature silken scarves with them long into the 21st century.  Complete with their clever “Cartes à Nouer” or “knotting cards”, the masterminds behind Hermès’ novel expedition show us how our scarves can be transformed into a top, a dress, a bag, a belt and numerous other garments.  Fascinating, really.

Hermès have picked seven stylish ladies from six of the most fashionable cities around the world.  There’s Anna from London, Courtney from Los Angeles, Tracy from Florida, Harley from New York, Ella from Paris, and U and Kozue, both from Tokyo.  Each girl represents her individual Hermès scarf in a different way, and right now, I think I’m in love.  Hermès silk scarf; welcome to my wish list.
