But lets not forget slightly more modern art here. I first came across Jo Ratcliffe about a year ago, and am, to this day, absolutely captivated by her work. From the fairy-esque typography on the cover of this month's issue of Vogue, to her distinctive and unique paintings, such as 'Swimsuit Rabbit', Jo can most certainly draw. Jo is as good at one medium of art as the next, and her work includes typography and set design as well as illustration.
From working on Marvel Comic drawings, to spouting amazing advertising campaigns for names like Orange, Rimmel, Sony and MTV, Jo Ratcliffe, in my opinion, has an awe-inspiring talent. Having your work featured in such prestigious publications as Vogue, Nylon, The Guardian and GQ, doesn't come easily, however- since Jo graduated Central St. Martin's College with a degree in illustration, she has scarcely stopped working, producing breath-taking piece after breath-taking piece. If I had my way, her decadent designs would be splashed on walls all around the globe for all to see, and be able to admire.
Below are some of my current favourite pieces from one of the best artists around at the moment. These pieces include her work for; British Vogue, Katy Perry, Visionaire, SXSW, IMG Model Agency, Topshop and Fallen Vodka.
Hats off to Jo- she really has a talent like no other.
