Potted wedding favor inspiration- Feeling frugal?

Potted wedding favours are wonderful as a gift for guests and can also double as a beautiful table centrepiece.

For our wedding favours I wanted to give a thoughtful keepsake to our guests so I asked my Nan if she would cultivate some succulents from her garden so we could pot them and give one to each guest (easier if you only have 55 guess like we did).

Potting plants is a relatively cost effective option, I purchased the glass fish bowls $2.50 each from a dollar store, add soil and pebbles (Nan cultivated and potted the plants as a wedding gift). The whole cost of the favour was under $150.

Feeling frugal: If you have a talented friend or family member ask them to make something in lieu of giving you a gift.

Nan is the lady to the right.

And if you were wondering this is my mum
(we are lucky Nan has passed onto both of us the creative gene).

One year Wedding anniversary!!

Today marks our one year Wedding anniversary.

Yesterday the Mr surprised me with a beautiful lunch. The only information I had was be ready by 11am.

We hoped in the car and headed half hour to pick up a coffee? (not the surprise location?).
We then started heading North from Sydney on the F3 freeway.

Then I spy.......Vineyards! We were back in the Hunter Valley!.

Yep- we were there to have lunch at the very place we got married a year ago.

The food was delicious- It was so good to go back and be able to enjoy every single bite!
I think we might have just started a anniversary tradition.

After mains we took a walk so we could fit in desert....I proceeded to run down the isle :-)
And then we took a few pictures to remember this momentous occasion.
Photos care of the brilliant self time function on the camera (the third wheel of couples around the world).

Desert tasting plate!

Tonight I will probably cook something nice at home & then we will tuck into the wedding cake.
We kept the top layer & froze it- The icing silhouette is sitting on top also.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend & have a great 21.2.11!!!

Unpredictable wedding photo inspiration

Sometimes unpredictable items  make for the best wedding portrait backdrops.

What a great transformation of the regular old backyard Hills hoist clothes line.

Or the clean lines of corrugated water tanks.

Our Engagement photo's - Luna Park

So...Not only have our wedding photos been featured in print and on the Internet, our Engagement photos have also done the rounds. I thought I might share these with my beautiful blog friends! "I swear this will be the last time I blab on about our wedding" LOL.

We had the engagement photo session at "Luna park Sydney" it is a amusement park, similar to Coney Island in New york. One of the main features of the park is this happy (scary) face, this is where you enter the park - through the mouth. I loved the vintage carnival feel and the beautiful bright colours.

We used the above photo for our "Save the date" cards
I made double sided printed card with purple sleeve and save the date magnet.

We used the above photo on a Australia Post stamp for our "Save the Dates"

Fun and Silliness in the crazy mirrors

I love the light in the above picture, I think it looks like a love heart....can you see it?
This was actually a stairwell for the Big dipper archway

Flowers- Hydrangeas

Mum & I picked these hydrangeas from her garden over the weekend.
Beautiful Thanks Mum! I love Hydrangeas.
