We introduced Ombre hair to you back in November but the recent crop of ladies sporting the technicolor color job has us falling in love with the trend all over again. We love the rockstar look it's giving. We know dying the tips of your hair isn't a novel suggestion so if this trend is too much try a couple of fun colored clip-in hair extensions. At the Salon we have hair extension pieces in every color, we bond them to your hair with an organic glue, its safe and non-damaging. They last 8-12 weeks, they're $5 each or 2 for $7. Come try them out!
Fringe is Baaaaaack!
The quickest way to give your hairstyle a quick revamp is....Drumroll please....A fringe! Fringes come and go with the wind. You grow them out and the next year you cut them back, but always slightly different :). That's the beauty of fringes...hair today, gone tomorrow! Lucky for us they are back and pretty strong with a little whimsy. Here are some great examples of the latest and greatest.
This look can work on almost any hair length.
This can even work with bobs. Love this pic!
{Please, if you've never had bangs or fringe before, have your
hairstylist tailor this look to suit your face shape! Very important!}
Have a wonderful day!

Jaclyn
DIY Ombré Hair.
I know, I know, this is like the oldest blog post in the book.
But just last weekend, I finally got around to ombré-ing (?) my hair, and though the result is not quite as light as I originally wanted, I am really happy with how it came out.
(I may dye over it again soon, but then again I don't want to end up bald..)
Anyway,
I used some sort of Garnier Nutrisse blonde dye (cannot remember which shade, but it was one of the lighter blondes!)
To achieve this colour, I had to dye over the hair four times, as my hair is naturally quite a dark brown.)
So, here goes;
I know that these pictures really aren't that great, but I'm sure you'll all get to see it properly next time I do an outfit post (which will be this weekend).
It really was the easiest thing to do; I have absolutely no experience with hair dye.
Literally all I did was mix up the dye and apply it to the ends of my hair. I used the gloves to blend the dye up a little bit further in an attempt to achieve the fading effect.
Hope you like it!
Here were some of the pictures I used for inspiration;
(I realise mine has a long way to go to become this extreme.)
Also, I absolutely loved Ailbhe of soooali.com's video on ombré hair which you can all find here.
BLEACH Hair Salon.
As you all know, I'd been looking to dip-dye my hair for some time before I finally did it last month.
(It's not as dark as I would like, but that's another story..)
Before I did my hair, I scoured the internet for pictures to pinpoint exactly what I wanted.
Because they were mentioned in so many magazines, and had loyal celebrity clients such as Pixie Geldof, Sienna Miller and Alice Dellal, my first stop was Bleach London's Tumblr site.
Ever since, I've been visiting the site non-stop looking at pictures of their work, and their quirky inspiration pictures.
It is amazing, and well worth checking out here.
Originally located in Dalston, Bleach now has another salon in Topshop, Oxford St. With colours like "Cheeky Vimto", "Berocca Rinse" and "De Ja Blue" on offer, Bleach (which was named after the Nirvana album), certainly boasts originality above all else.
With colour from just £50, out-of-this-world results and a trip to London already booked for next month, I could definitely be tempted..

Call me boring, but this one on the left is definitely my favourite.

Celebrity Hairstyle : Fishtail Braid
My inspiration definitely comes from Alicia Keys, who recently sported the fishtail braid at the Bet Awards. I have to say that her hair looked efortlessly chic. A fishtail braid is a simple look that can be worn day to night and one celebrities seem to love a lot. Take a look at some of them wearing their hair in a fishtail braid.
Alicia Keys, Rihanna
Fergie, Leona Lewis
Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens
Audrina Patridge, Dianna Agron
Blake Lively, Diane Kruger
"Twilight" girls Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed
Minka Kelly, Selena Gomez
Mary Kate Olsen, Kelly Osbourne
I hope you enjoyed the photos! I made a fishtail braid myself the other day and I have to say that it looked amazing. I think that the messier it looks, the better. I am tired of the neat hair in the summer, the hair should be cool and fun! Here is a tutorial I watched on YouTube. Thanks for reading!

Monday at our house...
What a busy weekend we had a baby shower, a farewell and a birthday party here there and everywhere! I managed to spend a little bit of time on the farm, whilst taking Bella (our dog) for a walk I grabbed this eucalyptus branch, wall actually I outsourced the Mr to fetch it for me. I think it looks so simple but beautiful sitting in a large vase, I put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in the water to enhance the smell (I used good old "Double D").
A few other bits and pieces:
A few other bits and pieces:
- The dog bed that I made in beautiful gold satin, piped in chocolate brown velvet (my first attempt at piping a cushion was not a complete failure).
- Black Ginger jar style lamp Thrifted from the Salvation Army for $10. I also found a duck egg blue one (at the very same store a few weeks later) that I have gifted to mum.
- The mirror is also new - A recent present from mum - Call me mirror obsessed but I think in a small space you need to have lots of mirrors to reflect the light.
Green is beautiful & I had the guts I would use Astro Turf as carpet too...
Retro Vision
We recently did a shoot for our brand new tank: Retro Vision. It features a 60s television design in a vibrant purple. We had a blast doing the photos, especially the underwater ones. Check them out as well as a few outtakes. You can purchase the tank at: Chickey Designs.
The Retro Vision tank also goes brilliant with our new Royalty bracelet. Which you can purchase here.
Model (and blog) of the Moment: Olivia Lefebre
Photos via. katherineisawesome |
I recently have gotten into the habit of logging onto to tumblr and sitting in front of the computer screen for hours, blogging. Maybe it's a sickness? Maybe it's a disease? I like to call it purely chronic boredum disorder. However, besides some of the caddy-ness that exists amongst the anonymous messages that many popular fashion bloggers get, and despite the notion that tumblr wasn't what it used to be, I still know in my best interest to disregard all of that. I in return, found a bunch of really awesome blogs full of art and inspiration that I enjoy looking at, not to mention the sweetest people running them. And to top it all off, I began to discover many models that aren't so well-known or what you call "up and coming". One being, Oliva Lefebre, a New Zealand model for Katherine and her awesome blog (no pun intended). As I found a stunning shot of her bare, perfect skin in a boyish-like outfit (photo above), I couldn't help but want to figure out who she was and who the photo was by.
Next thing I knew, I remembered this whole new concept to me that google came out with, where you could just drag a photo into their search engine and bam. You got your source. And there it was- katherineisawesome. I seriously love this chick's photography and sense of style and taste. Not to mention her shots of Olivia and the outfits she puts her in. But anyways, I'm deeply interested in this model's career and where it will go! I seriously know in my heart that she will go far and I really hope so! Keep your eyes peeled.
and those freckles she has are perfect.
xx
